Packaging machinery quoting checklist

Six operational checks for equipment manufacturers and distributors quoting machines with accessories, installation and channel pricing. This is a commercial quoting checklist, not a substitute for engineering review.

Before issuing a quote

Use the same review sequence for every opportunity.

01

Validate the machine selection

Confirm the package format, capacity, utilities and technical feasibility with the appropriate engineering or manufacturer specialist.

02

Define the complete sellable configuration

List the approved base machine, feeders, conveyor interfaces, guarding, changeover tooling and required dependencies.

03

Document services and exclusions

Specify freight, installation, commissioning, operator training, warranty and exclusions rather than hiding them in a single equipment line.

04

Choose the correct price context

Check customer, dealer or direct sales channel, effective price dates, costs and discount authority.

05

Review margin and approval exceptions

Record the reason for nonstandard pricing and obtain the applicable approval before issuing the quote.

06

Reconcile quote and order

Ensure the accepted configuration, customer, dealer, pricing and approval details remain traceable through the order handoff.

Example

A fictional case-packing equipment quote

A dealer selects an approved case packer, adds a conveyor interface and guarding, includes commissioning, then applies its authorized pricebook. If a proposed discount breaches the margin threshold, the quote is held for review before a customer-ready document is issued.

QuotePoint can govern configured commercial products, channel pricing and approvals when those products and rules are set up in the workspace. It does not independently engineer or certify a packaging line.
